Tropica: Color Cyclopedia of Exotic Plants and Trees: For Warm-Region Horticulture-In Cool Climate the Summer Garden or Sheltered Indoors
Published in Hardcover by Hungry Minds, Inc (May, 1992)

A reader from Colorado
This book is execellant for pictures. For information about growing and other details there is little.

TROPICA
This book is the ultimate, before software, computers and Wal-Mart salespersons... .a book of this magnitude was and is still the Bible of horticulture.Alfred Graf, travels the world to bring the reader an astounding volume of plants both rare and usual, not only color photos but origins as well, which happens to be the best indicator of how a plant will thrive.I've owned this book for over twenty years, even replacing it after it was stolen. What else can I say...oh yeah,...Chrisalidocarpus Lutescens.

Another "reference bible" for gardeners in the Tropics
Generally, I am sceptical about large reference books authored by a single person but, is there a viable alternative to using this tome? If, like me , you have discovered the parallel universe of tropical plants and can barely contain your enthusiasm and appetite for more information, then maybe this book will satiate those cravings for a good length of time. This is definitely one of THE great reference guides for lazy (i.e. not so academic) garden designers!

Ivy: Tale of a Homeless Girl in San Francisco
Published in Paperback by Creative Arts Book Co (June, 2000)
Authors: Summer Brenner and Marilyn Bogerd
Average review score:

great!!!
this book is truely amazing story for readers of all ages. It brings homelessness to light in through a novel, but in a very real way....It is a subject everyone needs to be more conscious of and Mrs. Brenner is a both a gifted author and a gifted teacher.

A heartwarming story
I think that IVY, A TALE OF A HOMELESS GIRL IN SAN FRANCISCO, is an excellent introduction to the topic of homelessness in an urban environment. It's a heartwarming story that reduced this fifty year old to tears. Ivy will defintely cling to you!

Ivy teaches
My 12 year old daughter and I read Ivy: Tale of a Homeless Girl in San Francisco together. I thought that I knew about homelessness, but this well written story taught me about feeling homeless. It was a catalyst for discussions with my daughter. My 10 year old son sat close enough to listen as I read aloud. He appreciated the book as much as we did. The vocabulary is rich, and the author weaves a fine story. The illustrations capture the noises, smells, and emotions of Ivy's experiences. We look forward to sharing the book with friends.

Losing Faith : A Quest for Truth and the Origins of Life
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (July, 1901)
Author: W. Summer Davis
Average review score:

Things Made Understandable
WOW. You have to get this book. The most complex ideas made simple. WOW.

Authorative and accurate
Not since Cosmos have I read a more direct and accurate treatment of topics such as evolution, cosmology, mythology, and history. The author knows his stuff, and it shows. From the coast of Greece to the streets of New York, from the pre Christian era to the civil writes movement, Losing faith is a search for truth. Above that, it is a brave search for difficult answers to impossible questions- yet the author has done the impossible. he has answered them. I would highly recomend this book to anyone seeking real, honest answers to life's most arduous questions

Grood Inforative Reading
Losing Faith is a very good book exploring the question of the existence of God from seemingly different points of view (ie. Religous, Philisophical and Scientific). On the surface and from history these views have always seemed to confict but the more one looks the closer these views seem to be merging especially in recent times. This book is very easy reading and very informative. It covers Religous, Philisophical and Scientific views including the history behind the differing beliefs and conclusions about what God represents for each. Anyone who is on the fence as to what God his to hisor her belief system should read this book!

Midsummer: Magical Celebrations of the Summer Solstice
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (March, 2002)
Author: Anna Franklin
Average review score:

Nice addition to the series
I really think that the information in the book is some of the most helpful in this series so far. There is a great deal of information on herbs and oils, a nice section devoted to tarot, and lore is better than many in this series of books. Overall, these books are a distilled pagan text. In the end, I only recommend these books for pagan families looking for ideas for pagan children. Any serious student of the craft will not find much help here.

Wonderful!
This book is a fully rounded examination of the midsummer festival with history and lore, pagan themes and spiritual inspiration. It contains traditional Wiccan and witchcraft rites, along with Saxon and Druidic celebrations for the festival. I know for a fact that the Wiccan rites are authentic and I have never seen them published before. [I do worry that it may be a case of casting pearls before swine in some instances.] Along with stuff for the more serious Wiccan, the ritual suggestions would help beginners and experienced covens alike. There is a wealth of herb craft here, since midsummer is the traditional time for gathering herbs, which again, may appeal to ex[pereinced and beginner alike. I can't recommend this book too highly- the strongest in the series so far.

An excellent guide to creating a midsummer celebration
Midsummer is one of the Pagan festivals which celebrates a positive seasonal change, and this title covers common midsummer seasonal rituals, from the Rite of the Oak King to Drawing Down the Dawn. Recipes for herbs used in ritual celebrations blend with ritual instructions in this excellent guide to creating a midsummer celebration.

A real gift of love
The openness with wich Mary Summer Rain shares her life with the reader is extremely touching. She understands to remind us in a simple yet powerful way, where the real values lie. I love her clear and honest style. Thank you for all your wonderful books.

The Perfect Summer (Mary-Kate & Ashley Sweet 16)
Published in Paperback by HarperEntertainment (July, 2002)
Author: Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen
Average review score:

How many books R there in the Sweet 16 mini-series?
Okay, I have seen two books on the internet, one is called 'The Perfect Summer' , the other is 'Going My Way'. They are both noted as book 3 of 'Mary-Kate and Ashley Sweet 16.' If anyone knows which is the REAL book 3, and if you know what the story is about, whether it's same or different, please reply in a review, thanx.

Sweet 16 The Perfect Summer
Okay, I don't know if there are, like, two different versions of this book, but I have The Perfect Summer and the book you guys described in the other reviews is not The Perfect Summer. This book isn't about their driving test. In The Perfect Summer, Mary-Kate and Ashley get summer jobs at a music festival. Mary-Kate meets a rockstar named Gavin Michaels and Ashley gets a new boyfriend named Brian. They help Brian and their new friend Penny enter a contest to win a record deal. It's a really good book, but I don't know why they would make two with the same title or whatever mix-up happened. Ok, peace out.

really good!
For anyone who has mixed up Going My Way and The Perfect Summer, Going My Way is not a Mary Kate and Ashley book. The Perfect Summer is though, it is Book 3 in the Sweet 16 series.

Amazon.com cannot seem to stop mixing up plots, titles, and series numbers. This book is not about as described, it is about Mary-Kate and Ashley getting a job (through their music exec dad) at a summer music festival working backstage. Mary-Kate meets a rock star, Gavin Michaels, and they start dating. Only things aren't as they seem with Gavin. Ashley gets a new boyfriend, Brian. She has to help his band partner, Penny, get over her stage fright before they have to perform and compete for a record contract. Can they make it? Though thoroughly predictable, this book is a great read, whether you like to read or not!

Upchuck Summer

By its cover
I have not read this book. Indeed, how could I? The title and cover illustration are extremely offputting.

Ever My Favorite
I find it so tragic that this wonderful piece of my life - one that has kept me company on the sunny summer days when my mother was at work and friends were off doing other things, and on the rainy winter days when school was getting too much to handle and I was bursting in anticipating for the warmth of spring to arrive - is going out of print (along with its may-even-be superior sequel, Upchuck Summer's Revenge).

What kind of world are we living in where a publisher will not keep these masterpieces on bookshelves for newer generations to fall in love with?

To this day, whenever I am asked what my favorite book is, Upchuck Summer is always the first utterance from my lips. That's all you need to know. Buy the book.

Days of our youth
I must've read this book when I was seven years-old. It was probably the book that I ever called "my favorite." I remember waking up at 2 AM and finishing it with a flashlight. I really loved it. This is just a really fun(ny) book. The story shows such a good understanding of what summer fun at camp really was like during those great days of our youth. It's a real nostalgia trip now that I'm graduating, but that's part of the fun.

An Invincible Summer

Heartwarming tale
AN INVINCIBLE SUMMER is a sweet tale of a man lost after losing his love two years ago. He is given a chance to live a dream by a Saint named Jack to become one of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1955, the year they won the World Series. Sam enbarks on a journey to heal his wounded soul and discover a new love. Definitely a tale to delight by many readers, especially if you love baseball, as it plays a key role in the book. This reader highly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. Mr. Scott is a voice to watch.

Review written by Miriam van Veen

VERY ROMANTIC!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. IVAN SCOTT WRITES WITH GREAT PASSION. THERE ARE MANY TWIST AND TURNS THAT KEEP YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A MOVIE MADE OUT OF THIS BOOK. I HAD A WARM FEELING WHEN I FINISHED THIS BOOK. I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE OF IVAN SCOTT'S BOOKS. I THINK THIS AUTHOR WILL BE REALLY BIG!!

What a tearjerker!
I read Ivan Scott's debut novel, An Invincible Summer, and I have to say how much I enjoyed it! The interaction of the characters, who all have had their hearts broken through life's trials, is enthralling since they all bring their pain to the table, and work with each other to overcome adversity. I also liked the theme of living life to the fullest since we never know when it could be taken away. This is a good one!

Patchwork Summer
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (September, 1987)
Author: Kristi D. Holl
Average review score:

I really enjoyed reading the book, It was very interesting.
I thought this book was very interesting, specialy how Randi was put incharge of Meggie and the house and all the work. I thoght that it was very mean what Maralyn (Randi's mum) did to the family I whould feel the same way as Randi if my mum or dad did that to me, but I know they wouldn't. My favourite part of the book was when the grandmother and Maralyn were fighting and arguing. I reccomend this book to ages 8 and over it's a book with alot curosity.

It wasn't the best book I've read but it wasn't the worst.
I thought the book was a diffrent way of looking at life but it had a pretty boring ending. I also liked how the author put letters in it.

It is a touching story worth reading
Patchwork Summer is a moving tale about the relationship of a daughter and a mother, who has just recently arrived back. Randi, the daughter, was left in charge of Meggie, or Megan, her little sister, her father and the house. When Marilyn, their mother, comes back, saying that she has finally found herself, Randi is determined to show her that she and the family don't need her. This was an excellent book and I'd say it is appropiate for all children. Our class, 7B of Warrigal Road State School, taught by Mrs Artemieff, has just finished reading it.

GrEaT!!!!!!!!!!
This book was defenetly the best in the 3 part series!

Question: AM i the only sweet valley fan who misses Nick Fox? I mean did Francine have to write him right out of the Sweet Valley Series? Nick really made the Sweet valley University series exciting he was full of excitement unlike all the other Sweet Valley university frat guys. Those guys are really did put the BORE in BOREDOM! I hope Nick comes back to Sweet Valley and catches Clays counterparts so he and Jessica can start dating again!!!!!!

Back to the book. Sam is being a total jerk one minute his and ogre and the Next he is a perfect gentelman. His playing around with Elizabeth, which is totally disgusting! ugh!

Tom and Todd are doing everthing they can to keep Elizabeth frrom Sam But wait till she finds out they are going to be sorry!!!
anyway to find out more read the book

Best in the 3 Part Mini-Series
I thought this was the best in its miniseries. I especially liked it when they were on the plane and what happened when they were in Key West, Florida. This is one of the best parts of the book. Of course it is at the end.

A Great conclusion!!!
Jessica's team is in last place. They have a chance of winning if they could put aside their differences and work together. But how will they work as a team if none of them is willing to make the first move? Elisabeth is falling hard for Sam, but she just dosn't get him. One minute he's kissing her, the next he is acting like a jerk and bragging about the girl he has waiting for him in Florida. Will Elisabeth forget over Sam for good? Todd and Tom know Sam is no good. But every time they do something to keep him away from Elisabeth, she gets angry. Will they back off and watch Elisabeth get hurt?
